So, I bought a new iPod...

Considering that I am going to be starting college in just a few weeks, I decided that I was going to need a large-capacity flash drive as I will probably not be allowed to crank up my laptop in class (and they have more than enough computers for every student to have access to one), not to mention the security risks involved with lugging a $1,000 piece of technology around. For a while, I looked for a good 1GB flash drive, and my needs were simple:

• Have good industrial design
• Fast USB 2.0 read/write speeds
• Have to be from a reputable manufacturer
• An optional lanyard included with the drive for convenience
• 1GB of storage space is a MUST

At first, I looked at offerings from Corsair and SanDisk, but while poking around the electronics department of Wal-Mart on Monday, I decided that I should just grab an iPod shuffle. I have for months wanted one just for the hell of it, but I never thought it would be necessary, as I was TRYING to not succumb to the Apple Doctrine of high fashion through high-end electronics. In any case, I finally did succumb I guess, and I went home and checked the Apple web site about the shuffle. I had told myself that if it required iTunes to use it as a disk drive, I would not buy one - considering that all other iPods need iTunes installed. As it turned out, the shuffle does not, in fact it can be used with Windows 2000 and XP without having iTunes existing on the machine, which meant I could not tell myself "no". Within hours of making a purchase through the Apple Store online, my shuffle was on its way to me, causing much anticipation over the last 2 days for me.

The package arrived earlier today, and no sooner that I had the box in my hands did I rip it open while taking quick snapshots with my HP Photosmart digicam. :)

So anyway, it was really a bit of a splurge at $130 plus S&H, but I don't mind. BECAUSE IT IS AN iPOD!!! XD

I was on the toilet one day, and ten of those things popped out of my ass. Apple is implanting iPod chips into people's rectums.

I could have had 10 iPod shuffles for free... :(

Looking good ^__^ BTW you don't need iTunes to use most iPods. At least, I don't need it for mine :/

You don't? I have to open iTunes with the iPod connected (I have a 4g non-photo 40GB) and select "Enable disk use" under iPod properties... :/

Strange, maybe it's something iTunes does? I didn't install it and when I plug in the iPod (it's a 20GB non-photo-y one) it just shows up in windows as an external drive. I use ephPod to stick music on.

Hehe, only problem is, you have to use iTunes (or xPlay, or some other similar program) to add music to the drive for playback.

It looks very spiffy! Nice and... green packaging, that is. Wow, $130 sounds really cheap down here... but one must remember, that is US Dollars... ^^' Have fun with it, then!
